Since my dad transitioned to the other side a few years ago, he always sends some kind of sign to remind me he is still around me. Most of the time it is a feather, a coin or my yellow roses that are still blooming out of season. He also speaks to me through birds.
Lately, him and my stepmom, who transitioned this January have been sending me ravens. There are four of them. There is a center median in the street I live on with trees in it right outside my front door. These four ravens come there and eat under the trees. I guess there are some worms there or something. They are always together. The energy around them is incredible and gorgeous!
I know that it is my dad and stepmom. They are here to tell me that there is no reason to be afraid of what is going on in my life. I am not sure who the other two ravens are. I suspect they might be my Grandma Mary and Grandpa Shelby, my mom's parents, who I was very close to. That is because they have been heavy on my mind and heart lately.
Ravens, crows and even other birds have a hierarchy of how they eat. There is always one that is in charge. I witnessed this one time. I happened to be up at 5:00am just as the sun was breaking the horizon. I am never up that early but on this day I was. I happened to look out the screen door and saw this massive raven swoop down and sit at the top of the fence where I usually feed the birds. All the birds were chattering and when this raven swooped down it got really, really quiet as if the leader of their community had just walked in.
There was such reverence for this raven. Nobody moved or made a sound. The raven swooped down and ate some of the food I put out. When the raven was done he went back up to his perch on top of the fence. He sat there for a minute and looked around at all of the other birds. Then he flew off. Then all the birds started diving in the food. It was a very sacred and holy moment.
So, I have no doubt that these four ravens are here to send me a message. I have been watching them. It is interesting to see how they work together. One is always in the tree serving as lookout for the other three on the ground and they rotate every few minutes to make sure all of them get something to eat.
I believe they are trying to tell me that they are always going to watch out for me and I am never going to go without what I need. This is a constant reminder to me that love never dies. Love will always find a way across the great divide.
